On July 29, 2023, the Michael Asawalam Foundation, in collaboration with Stand Up for Women International, conducted a highly impactful medical outreach at St. Charles Catholic Church, Ibeafor Umunumu in Ehime Mbano. This event marked a significant step forward in our mission to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities.
The venue, St. Charles Catholic Church, was abuzz with activity as our team of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and representatives from Stand Up for Women International prepared to welcome the residents of Ibeafor Umunumu. The turnout was overwhelming, with community members eager to receive the much-needed medical attention.
Throughout the day, we offered a wide range of medical services to address various health concerns. Our dedicated team provided:
- General Health Check-ups: Residents received thorough health assessments, allowing for early detection of potential health issues.
- Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Screenings: Essential for monitoring and managing conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
- Eye Examinations: Ensuring proper eye health and distributing corrective lenses to those in need.
- Dental Care: Offering dental check-ups and advice on maintaining oral hygiene.
- Medication Distribution: Providing free medications to treat common ailments and manage chronic conditions.
Health Education and Empowerment
In addition to medical services, the outreach included educational sessions aimed at empowering the community with knowledge about preventive healthcare. Topics covered included:
